Phase 2 was quite a challenge, and I’m proud of how I kept at it. I honestly had my eyes opened more to the power of Excel, not just for organizing the data but also for analyzing and solving. Functions really threw me off for a while, but once I got gradually through A4 Fun with Functions and A5 More Fun with Functions, things started making sense. I could see how even simple formulas-for example, SUMIF save time and reduce errors when used properly.
Then A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer took it one notch up. Reflecting on it now, I can honestly say I grew a lot through the process. What stood out most was how A6 brought everything together from earlier parts of Phase 2. After getting familiar with functions in A4 and A5, A6 gave me the chance to apply them in a more complete and realistic way. Using formulas to calculate totals, averages, percentages, it stopped being abstract and started to feel like I was solving actual problems.
Now that I’ve done A6, I’m starting to notice how I use Excel in everyday things, like budgeting, tracking goals, or organizing information. It’s one thing to learn a tool, but when you start using it naturally outside the classroom, that’s when it really sticks.
Chapter 5.9.1 Conditional Formatting was actually really fun to learn because it makes spreadsheets way more visual and easier to understand. I like how you can set up rules to automatically change the colors based on the values, like highlighting high numbers in red or low ones in green. It helps the important stuff stand out right away, which saves time and just makes everything look more organized without having to do a bunch of extra work.
Looking ahead to Phase 3, I’m feeling more confident and ready to bring a creative mindset. A6 helped me realize that there’s a big difference between just getting by and really owning what you do. I want to aim for that next level, not because it’s required, but because it feels good to make something that reflects effort and intention.
Hey Skylar, I was amazed by the Functions that can be used in Excel and finally was able to realize why Excel is essential when dealing with large sets of figures to help us be accurate and minimize errors.
ReplyDeleteI am proud of not only your perseverance in doing A4 and A5 but your recognition of their value :-)
ReplyDeleteI am elated that A6 gave you the chance to apply the Excel skills and concepts your learned in a more complete and realistic way to solve actual problems!
I am most proud of your evolved aim for that next level: "not because it’s required, but because it feels good to make something that reflects effort and intention." ^_^
I agree that the assignment this phase increased in dedication and difficulty. What we can look forward to in phase 3 is that we are almost done and we succeeded.
ReplyDeleteHi Skyla! That’s great to hear you’re already using what you’ve learned from Excel and applying it to your personal life. I’ve been doing the same and I even made my own budgeting spreadsheet. It felt really good to put it together easily and even add some personal touches to it. Your creativity is definitely going to help you thrive in Phase 3 and in the final stretch too!
ReplyDeleteHi Skyla,
ReplyDeleteLove the energy in this post! It's awesome to see how you're connecting what you learned to real-life situations. Excel really is a game-changer once it clicks. Keep that creative mindset going into Phase 3!
Hi Skyla! It is really great to hear that you have found different ways to add Excel into your personal life outside the classroom! I really like your take on the last phase and how it has had great importance. I'm sure you'll breeze through Phase 3 with your creative mindset.
ReplyDeleteHii Skyla! Your mindset on this last post is honestly quite inspiring! Yeah, I too, have found how useful excel can be for personal use, I am glad to hear that someone else will be using it too! We are almost in our last couple of weeks, so I know you are gonna crush it!
ReplyDeleteHey Skyla, I'm happy we are done with Excel, it was definitely hard compared to Word. I did find everything helpful and I plan to use Excel for work and personal goals. I heard PowerPoint is easier, so I am looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteWow! The way you expressed A6 is on point! I felt the same way. I know all the exercises done in A6 will prove useful and powerful.
ReplyDeleteThat one was awesome to learn and will come in handy when highlighting important cell values and keeping worksheets organized.
That growth mindset is key, and if you continue to think that way, you will achieve exactly what you want to accomplish and more! I know you can finish the course and aim higher than the average.
I really enjoyed reading your reflection! It’s awesome how you connected the assignments to real-life uses especially noticing how Excel is now showing up in your everyday tasks like budgeting and tracking goals. I felt the same way about A6 it really brought everything together and made the earlier functions feel more meaningful. Wishing you the best as we head into Phase 3 your mindset and growth really show!

ReplyDeleteGreat blog! You can tell how much growth you experienced, especially with how you started applying Excel to real-life tasks. I've also started doing this. It’s inspiring how you pushed through the challenges and found confidence along the way. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you phase 2 was a challenge, understanding the functions took me a while as well but after getting help and some practice it became easier. A6 was definitely a lot easier than the other ones, I was struggling because my work computer didn’t have some formulas so I couldn’t work on it on my free time and I had to go to school to use a computer.
ReplyDeleteI hope I do get to use excel in my new position, but I’ve learned so much that I don’t think I will forget majority of it. You did an amazing job this semester :)
Yes!! It was so eye opening and when you notice just how important it is and how it is used everywhere and all the time it makes you want to actually use it more often! Couldn't agree more with you!
ReplyDeleteHi, the functions did give me a headache at times but I slowly got comfortable using them!
